Do Something Nice For The One You Love
2/20/2008
It's all right to say off colored jokes to your in-laws, it's okay to read in bad light, and it's just fine to constantly be in a faltering relationship with your signifigant other. February is the time for love, reflection, and candy. (MMmm... candy) We're not too far removed from resolutions and ambition to do the right thing. Don't let your relationship be any different. Relationships are more than giving fifty - fifty, you have to give one hundred percent to make things work. Here are six things you can do to without seeming insincere and fake for the most important person in your life... oh yeah they all cost from $0-5 each.
Make a photo collage or frame up some pictures
With web services like Yahoo Photos, Flickr, or even Target you can print 4x6 from $0.09 each or 8x10 for one dollar each. What a better way to capture a moment better than a picture. Make sure you frame it because we all know how we all have the tendency to procrastinate.
Get a grab bag of their favorite candy
Whenever I was a little kid when my momma bought me something special, a treat of sorts -- I always remember doing a little dance while I enjoyed it. Make your special one dance a little inside or out by buying them their favorite candy and just brown bag it, the presentation doesn't really matter the stuff inside does though. With it already being well past the 14th you might have a really good chance of doing this cheaply.
Compliment them, but this time really mean it
Give your "sugar-muffin" a compliment you really mean. Think about what it is that really makes you excited about your "bubble-butt" and share it with them. Write it on a little note and leave it for them in their jacket pocket, or on the mirror, or just text it to them. Sometimes don't you just want to hear what you did right?
Volunteer just for one task you both hate doing
At my house I hate taking my dog out early in the morning, especially when it's freaking cold out. I hate making coffee to in the morning for both of us. Find the one task that your "sugar" has to do each day and make it easier for them. Surpise them with the gift of saying, oh I already did that. How nice of a feeling.
Make A CD
My high school girlfriend use to make me cds all the time. It kinda was cheesy and cliche' but then again it's exciting to see how well someone knows you and can pick out your favorite songs and put them on a cd just for you. A new cd makes me happy for atleast three days just because this means for the first time in a while I don't have to listen to the same ol' crap on my exciting boring ride to my boring great job. Oh yeah add "yall's" song (I'm from SC I can say y'all whenever I want) at the end.
See a movie you know you shouldn't want to see but you know you do and you know that they do:
I once made a personal goal to never watch Finding Nemo. I'm simply too resolute to break down and watch a girlie or kiddie movie I thought. I must say I was wrong, Marlin was a strong, determined man... Nemo, that little rascal -- enough of that. Just take one for the team, watch a movie that you might not like and do it for your girl/man. Guys exception of this rule: Dirty Dancing, The Devil Wears Prada, John Tucker Must Die, and The Notebook. Girls: Beastmaster, Deliverance, Brokeback Mountain.
FOOTNOTE:The above mentioned movies with the exception of Finding Nemo... do in fact - SUCK!

Be More Like Jordan
In which role can you be most effective? Michael Jordan might be everyone's favorite athlete. What did he do to be more influential than anyone else? He wasn't cocky or arrogant. He didn't go off the handle about how he single handedly won games.
When Enough Is Enough
At what point does someone max out his or her level of effectiveness? Each day we strive to get the maximum level of productivity out of our days. The whole point of this site is to be as effective as possible. Sometimes, I might preach quantity over quality. We all know what is the winner of those two evils... quality.
